    Have you been involved in an incident? You can easily report your damage online.
    If another party is involved, make sure to also complete the European accident statement. You can upload the completed form while reporting your damage online. Don’t forget to take pictures of the damage, as these help clarify the situation.

  • What should I do if I have damage or an accident in the Netherlands?

    Damage to your car is never pleasant. To help you get back on the road as quickly as possible, you can report the damage online or call DirectLease Roadside Assistance.

    How to report damage
    Please report the damage within five working days. You can do this easily online by following these steps:

  • What should I do if I have windscreen damage in the Netherlands?

    Do you have a chip or crack in your windscreen? That’s unfortunate. For windscreen repairs, you can contact Van Mossel Autoglas Service at 088 0870 150.

    Tip: Have a chip repaired promptly to avoid it turning into a full crack that requires replacing the entire windscreen.

    Repair costs
    A chip repair is usually free of charge. However, replacing the entire windscreen may involve a deductible.

  • What happens to my excess if someone else causes damage to my car?

    It’s never nice to discover damage to your car.
    If the damage was caused by someone else, it’s important that you fill out the accident report form together with the other party and report the damage online.

    Damage caused by a counterparty
    If the damage to your vehicle can be recovered from the counterparty, you will not have to pay a deductible. 

    Damage without a (known) counterparty
    If the damage was caused by e.g. vandalism or an unknown counterparty, you must file a police report. As the damage cannot be recovered from a counterparty, your will be liable to pay the deductible.

    Guarantee fund
    If you don't know who caused the damage, but you still wish to try to recover the damage, you must inform us about the incident within ten days, so we can file a claim with the guarantee fund.   You must also include two witness statements and file a police report.

  • What happens if my car is declared a total loss?

    Damage to your car is always unfortunate. If your car is declared a total loss, the lease contract will be cancelled retroactively from the date of the accident.

    If the damage cannot be recovered from a third party, a one-time insurance excess will be charged.

    Are you currently driving a loan or replacement car?
    Please return it as soon as possible. You’ll receive an email with instructions.

    New or replacement car
    We’ll do everything we can to get you back on the road quickly. One of our Sales team members will contact you to discuss your options.

    Important:
    Since the contract is cancelled from the accident date, the actual rental costs of the replacement car will be charged to the contract holder. These are standard car rental rates.

  • My key no longer works, what should I do?

    If your car key is no longer functioning, please contact an official brand dealer to schedule an appointment. They will assess whether the key can be repaired or needs to be replaced.

    If the issue is due to a technical malfunction beyond your control, DirectLease will cover the costs. However, if the damage was caused by your own actions, you will be responsible for the replacement or repair costs.

  • What should I do if I have damage or an accident in another country?

    Getting into an accident abroad is never a pleasant experience. If it happens, always ask the local police to file an official report. This helps prevent any complications when you want to leave the country. It is also important to take clear photos of the accident scene, your lease vehicle and the other party’s vehicle.
