Having an insurance certificate (green card) with you is only required when visiting the countries highlighted in green on the following website: https://www.cobx.org/highcharts-maps
The countries where you must be able to present a (paper) green card include: Albania, Iran, Israel, Morocco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey, Belarus.
I want to apply for an insurance certificate/green card.
You can apply for your insurance certificate/green card here!
When travelling to or through these countries, it is important to make sure your green card is actually green. You can either print your insurance certificate on green paper or request a free copy from us: Insurance certificate / green card (directlease.nl). Note: be sure to submit your request at least one week before your departure to make sure your green card can be delivered by mail on time.
If your destination is not listed above, you are not obligated to carry a green card, although we do recommend it. You can carry a digital copy or a black-and-white hard copy of your green card.
