(Winter) tyres

Can I choose all-season or all-weather tires?
By default, lease cars come with summer tires. However, you can choose to include all-season tires in your lease contract. This option can be added when configuring your lease offer under the section "Winter Tire Plan."
All-season tires
As the name suggests, these tires are suitable for all seasons. They are marked with the M+S symbol, indicating they are appropriate for use in countries like Germany.Tip:
If you opt for all-season tires, there will be no seasonal tire change between summer and winter.Questions?

Can I have winter tyres added later on?
It’s possible that you decide to add winter tyres to your lease contract either right away or after some time. No problem at all — this can be arranged. If you choose to add them, the total cost of the winter tyres will be spread across the entire duration of your lease contract.
If the lease contract has already been active for a few months, a one-time charge will be applied retroactively for that period. From the next payment onwards, you’ll pay the updated monthly lease amount that includes winter tyres.

When should I have winter tyres fitted?
As winter approaches, you can book an appointment with your dealer or the tyre partner storing your winter tyres. We recommend booking early – demand for winter tyres is high during the season.
First time switching tyres?
Visit a Van Mossel location near you. They’ll handle the tyre change and store your winter tyres for future use – hassle-free.Note:
Winter tyres wear faster than summer tyres, especially when temperatures rise above 7°C. So make sure to switch back to summer tyres in time.Questions?

How do you handle tyre damage?
Have a flat tyre? No worries, we’re happy to explain what to expect in terms of costs.
If a tyre needs repair or replacement for reasons other than normal wear, that counts as damage. For example, a nail in the tyre. The dealer or tyre fitter will check whether it can still be repaired. Those repair costs are not covered by the lease contract and will be passed on to you.
If the tyre cannot be repaired and must be replaced, we don’t charge you the full price of a new tyre. Instead, you pay for the portion of its natural usable life that has been lost (the remaining tread). We use the following method to calculate:
Example calculation:
Cost of a new tyre: €150
New tyre tread: 8 mm
Minimum legal tread: 2 mm
Remaining tread on damaged tyre: 5 mm
Usable tread: 8 mm minus 2 mm = 6 mm
A tyre with less than 2 mm tread is always replaced. In this example, the damaged tyre has 5 mm remaining. You theoretically could have used 3 more mm before reaching the 2 mm limit. Because of the damage, that 3 mm is lost. That means you will be charged for half (3/6) of a new tyre.
Cost in this case:
€150 × (3/6) = €75Questions?

Are winter tyres mandatory abroad?
Planning to travel abroad between November 1 and April 15? We recommend checking the ANWB website before you go. There, you’ll find up-to-date laws and regulations for countries like Germany, France, Norway and Austria.
Driving in the mountains?
It’s a good idea to bring snow chains.
Tip: When buying snow chains, make sure they fit your lease car’s wheels – not every chain fits every rim.Questions?
