If your lease car is declared a total loss, that’s obviously very frustrating. What happens next depends on who caused the damage: you or someone else.
Your fault
If the accident was your fault, you only pay the insurance excess that’s agreed in your lease contract.
Not your fault
If the accident wasn’t your fault and the other party is liable, everything can be recovered from them. You don’t have to pay an excess.
Lease contract ends
If your car is a total loss, your lease contract will always end. This happens on the date of the accident.
