How does it work if I receive a traffic fine?

All traffic fines from the CJIB and other authorities are sent to DirectLease. These are forwarded by email to the driver. Due to privacy regulations (GDPR), we do not send copies of fines to the employer.

Paying fines
Fines must be paid directly by the driver to the issuing authority. To avoid extra charges or the fine being passed on to your employer, we recommend paying the fine as soon as possible.

Reminders
If a reminder is issued, DirectLease will pay it immediately and charge the cost to your employer. Please note: in this case, we will also add administration costs on top of the increased fine. The fine itself will still not be sent to the employer. Only the driver can request a copy of the fine from DirectLease.

What should I do if I disagree with a traffic fine?

Have you received a traffic fine and believe it was issued in error? You can file an objection in writing. The fine will include instructions on how to do this.

Authorization from DirectLease
To submit an objection, you will need an authorization letter from DirectLease. This is normally included in the email accompanying the fine. Didn’t receive it? Contact us by phone or email, and we will send it to you as soon as possible.

Tip: When requesting the authorization, please include the vehicle’s license plate and the reference number of the fine.

Submitting an objection
When writing your objection, make sure to include the following details in your email or letter to the relevant authority:

• Your name and address
• The license plate of the vehicle
• Details of the fine
• Place and date of the incident
• Why you believe the fine is incorrect
• The authorization from DirectLease B.V.
• Any supporting evidence

Even if the payment deadline has passed or the fine has already been paid, you can still file an objection.
