  • Can I put stickers on my lease vehicle?

Would you like to put a sticker of your company name on your lease vehicle? You can. You can choose to include the costs of creating and applying the stickers in your lease price. The benefit of this is that the stickers will be insured if your vehicle is damaged. You can also provide and pay for the stickers yourself. The choice is yours.

However, we do ask that you remove all stickers from the vehicle before you return it at the end of your lease period. You will be charged for any damage caused by removing stickers.

  • What happens if the employer can no longer afford the monthly costs of the lease agreement?

We would rather avoid any situation in which the employer, also known as the contracting party, can no longer afford the monthly lease price. If that does happen, the contracting party and DirectLease will have a discussion about the organisation's continuity prospects. If it becomes clear that the organisation's continuity is non-existent or minimal, the business lease agreement will be terminated.

The costs of the premature contract termination will be billed to the contracting party. The amount of the lump-sum payment will be determined using the DirectLease lump-sum matrix

  • Can I hook up a caravan to my lease vehicle?

If you want to go on holiday with a caravan, you can hook it up to your lease vehicle's tow hook.   Of course, it is important to make sure your vehicle can handle the extra weight. The maximum weight that your vehicle can pull is listed in the instruction manual that comes with your lease vehicle.

  • When is a class-five alarm system (SCM class 5) mandatory?

As the owner of your motor vehicle, DirectLease may require you to install an alarm system in your vehicle. We have specific additional security requirements for motor vehicles with an insured value of €70,000 (exclusive of VAT, inclusive of motor vehicle tax) or more. If you have a motor vehicle of this value, it must be equipped with a class-five alarm system (vehicle tracking system).

  • I want to install a tow hook on my lease vehicle. Can I?

It is always possible to install a tow hook on your lease vehicle. You can choose to include the costs in your lease price. Consult the list of accessories from your lease vehicle's manufacturer for the price of the tow hook. You can include this price in the calculation of your lease price under ‘accessories.’

You can also choose to purchase and install the tow hook yourself. Note that you will have to remove the tow hook before returning your vehicle at the end of your lease period. The costs of purchasing, installing and removing the tow hook are for your own account. Also note that you will be charged for any damage caused by installing or removing the tow hook.

  • What documentation will I need when travelling abroad?

Are you planning to take a trip in your lease vehicle within or outside Europe? The insurance certificate (green card) lists the countries you can travel to and where the car is insured.

To avoid potential problems while you are away on holiday with your lease vehicle, be sure to check the engine oil, coolant and tyre pressure before you leave and make sure the car has undergone periodical maintenance.

Read the ANWB Travel Guide for more tips: ANWB Travel Guide

We also advise you to bring the following three documents:

    1.  Registration certificate
    2.  Insurance certificate (green card). You can download the most recent version here: Insurance certificate / green card (directlease.nl). Check whether you are required to carry a printed version as well using this link: https://www.cobx.org/highcharts-maps
    3.  European Accident Statement

If the car is not registered in your name (see registration certificate), you will also need a foreign declaration (business lease) to visit the following countries.

Albania, Algeria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia (former Yugoslav Republic), Morocco, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Belarus.

This declaration states that you, as the driver of the lease vehicle, are authorised to drive the car.

Are you travelling to Morocco, Turkey, Tunisia, Ukraine or Algeria? Here are the extra steps you have to take:

If you are travelling to one of the aforementioned countries, having a foreign declaration is not enough. As a driver in these countries, you need a legalised authorisation. We can arrange this for you.

Send an email to info@directlease.nl with your name, your vehicle's licence plate number and the country you want to travel to. We will then send you the required documentation via UPS through exportdocumenten.nl.

Tip: be sure to apply for a foreign declaration on time, at least three weeks before departure. Also leave enough time to have your declaration legalised, if necessary.

Drawing up the authorisation costs around €35. This amount will be billed to your employer.

  • Can my employer install a black box in my lease vehicle?

If you want to track how many kilometres you drive for business or personal trips, you can install a black box (in-vehicle data recorder) in your car.   A black box is not standard in our lease vehicles.

Your employer can request DirectLease to install a black box in your vehicle. The associated costs will be charged to the contracting party.
